How does fall detection work?

Fall detectors use an accelerometer. This is a small, ultra-sensitive electronic sensor that measures changes in speed, direction and pressure. If the device detects a sudden movement followed by an impact and a lack of movement, it automatically triggers an alert to our 24/7 emergency center.

Advanced technology, but not infallible

It’s important to be transparent: although very powerful, fall detectors cannot guarantee 100% detection of incidents. They detect around 90% of falls. Like all electronic devices, they have their limits.

For example, if a person slides slowly down a wall or slumps very gently, the accelerometer may not detect the impact required to trigger the automatic alert.

Is this the right package for you?

Since fall detectors are very sensitive, they are not necessarily recommended for everyone right from the start.
