Installing your alarm system: Is it as easy as they say?

One of the questions we get asked most often at CSL medical alert is: “Will I need a technician to install it?”

The short answer: No.

We’ve designed our systems to be ready to use as soon as you receive them. This means that you don’t have to drill any holes in your walls and no complex programming to do. Everything is ready to go right out of the box.

Here’s a simple guide to understanding how to install your system according to your configuration.

1. The Mobility and Mobility+ range: Zero installations

This is the simplest solution.

• How to do it: Take the device out of the box and place it on its charging cradle for 4-5 hours.

• Why? This time allows the device to make its automatic updates. Once charged, press the button to perform your first test.

• A little extra: For the Mobility+, download the Caregiver App and if you haven’t already done so when ordering, call us to receive your email invitation to create your account.

2. The cellular modem system (at-home; at-home+ system without a fixed telephone line)

Ideal if you no longer have a land-based phone.

1. Plug in the small antenna on the back (4G port).

2. Plug the console into an electrical outlet.

3. Wait about a minute for the light on the back to change from red to green.

4. Do your test!

3. Systems with a telephone line (at-home & at-home+)

Here, the console simply installs between your signal source and your current phone.

Scenario A: Standard Installation (Wall or Modem)

• Unplug your phone from the wall outlet (or modem).

• Plug this phone into the back of the console (hole identified by a phone icon).

• Plug the gray wire from the console into the wall outlet (or the modem into the same hole where the phone was originally plugged in).

Scenario B: “Full Home” Configuration (Modem Redistributing Line)

If you have several phones plugged into the walls and a modem that powers the entire network:

1. Unplug the modem wire that goes into the wall phone jack.

2. Plug this wire into the back of the console (phone icon).

3. Plug the grey wire from the console (the “Line” port in red) into the wall outlet.

4. Connect the console to the electricity and test your button.

The test isn’t working? Don’t panic!

If the console doesn’t make sound the first time you press your button:

1. Press the CANCEL button on the console for 5 seconds.

2. Listen to the automatic message all the way through.

3. Press your necklace/bracelet button again.

4. The machine will say one last message and make a sound. Your system is now ready!
